MagazinesIvy Cottage Creations Review by Trisha Hamilton If you're like most of us in this wonderful scrapbooking hobby, you devour everything you can find on the subject, from websites to magazines, searching for more, more, more! Ivy Cottage Creations has added a new outlet for our creative endeavors, in the form of a bi-monthly publication. The first issue was July/August 1998, sent out gratuitously to all who inquired. Although it was only a slim 20 pages, the editors are promising to double that with the next issue. The magazine contained beautifully clear color pictures of page layouts, with very explicit directions at the bottom of each page for re-creating them. I thought this was a great concept, as the specifics of exactly what to do are outlined very clearly. If you have ever seen The Stmapers' Sampler, it reminded me of the directions they provide, making the pages a no-brainer to complete. The sample pages were varied and interesting, from picnics to to an on-going page they will feature called "Don't Get Mad-Take Pictures", featuring shots of life's assorted mishaps. Ivy Cottage Creations also included an article on stretching your scrapbooking dollar (always of interest!), and one on using templates in unique ways (like an upside down heart for a bunny's face, which was adorable). There were also patterns included in the back to use for making a few of the featured layouts. Ivy Cottage Creations only contained one small ad, which was a refreshing change from other publications. They are very interested in showcasing readers' scrapbook pages, thus dubbing their magazine "the sharing of scrapbook ideas." This magazine only looks to get better and better. Subscriptions are $19.95 per year. Updated September 1998
